Redcar Beacon, originally built in March 2013, is an 80-foot-tall structure. Known originally as the "Vertical Pier” to replace the town's demolished 19th-century pier, the seven-floor landmark features a viewing platform with 360-degree views

Installed in 2014, 27 wind turbines were built 1.5km off Redcar beach developed as part of the UK’s wind farm initiatives to provide low-carbon energy to the region

Redcar's groynes are essential timber and concrete structures on the beach, primarily installed in the 1960s to prevent coastal erosion by trapping sediment (longshore drift) and protecting the coastline

These structures run perpendicular to the beach, trapping sand to prevent erosion and reducing the effect of tides

31st ‎May ‎2011 

A 44ft adult sperm whale became stranded on Redcar beach and died despite a massive, hours-long rescue effort. Cleveland police and rescuers attempted to keep the 20-tonne mammal wet, but experts deemed the North Sea unsuitable for the lost creature. The carcass was later removed by contractors, with its jawbone preserved.

6th ‎December ‎2010 

The winter of 2010, brought severe snow and record-breaking cold to Redcar and the wider Teesside area, causing significant travel disruption and school closures

Fisherman Square originated as a 19th century, built to house local fishing families and their equipment - still in use today

The Redcar Town Clock was officially opened on January 29, 1913, to honour the late King Edward VII

​The Redcar Blue Town Clock stands as a distinctive and much-loved landmark in the heart of Redcar

The cenotaph was erected in 1926 as a memorial to those killed in the Great War

Garden of Remembrance stands on the site of the former Zetland Club, which was destroyed in an air raid in 1941 with the loss of 15 lives. The garden is used by veterans and cadets for commemoration events

Nine penguins stand on the Redcar Esplanade - originally installed in 1994
They are currently in the process of being repaired

Sinterlation is a sculpture located on Redcar Esplanade. The base features boats to represent the towns fishing history and steel chains for the local iron and steelmaking heritage. ‘Sinter’ is a mixture of iron ore and limestone used to feed a blast furnace
